Dr. Wise’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Curriculum (DEI) acknowledges that much of what we are taught and learn is biased toward the predominant group and distorts and/or excludes others.
This necessarily creates and perpetuates systems and behaviors that cause disparities and disproportionate access to resources, whether consciously or unconsciously.
Conscious Inclusion, therefore, is the critical questioning of
1) How and why things are the way they are
2) Interrogating our own privilege and complicity in exclusion, and
3) Proactive inclusion of diverse people and perspectives in our personal and business practices for systemic change.
